The play Shopping and Fucking was written in 1996 by the iconic British playwright Mark Ravenhill and was first presented in Lithuania at the New Drama Campaign in 1999. Director Oskaras Koršunovas created a play by the same name based on the play, and with it Oskaras Koršunovas Theatre (OKT) was born. The Youth Theatre presents today's youngest generation's performance based on the play. Its representatives could be the children of the creators of the play.
When "Shopping and Fucking" rocked the Lithuanian theatre scene at the end of the last century, it was the shocking aspects of the play that caught most of the attention: the characters and the situations that had previously been kept quiet. Today, when it is increasingly difficult to surprise the audience with such themes, the fundamental question of the play remains relevant: is there room for true feelings in today's society? -
The talented actors of the youngest generation, who have just graduated from theatre acting studies at the LAMTA (course director - Gintaras Varnas), play memorable roles in Shopping and Fucking.
The play "Shopping and Fucking" is presented on the platform of Black Box, a platform for the promotion and dissemination of the work of young artists, developed by the Youth Theatre. The aim of the platform is to establish ongoing cooperation with promising young artists and to realise and disseminate their creative ideas.
The play is presented in cooperation with the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
