The exhibition "From the Core" of the Lithuanian Song Celebration, celebrating its centenary, presents the works of the best Lithuanian contemporary folk artists - both well-known masters and lesser-known creators. The exposition features paintings, sculptures, graphics, ceramics, blacksmithing, woodcarving and weaving, carvings, textiles, verbs, gardens, masks, Easter eggs, other works inspired by the folk art tradition, as well as contemporary modifications of these works, which allow us to observe the changing nature of these folk art fields. The idea of the exhibition is based on the primordial image of the world tree and its "backbone" - the core. The core not only transmits nutrients and life-giving water, but also genetic information, memory, wisdom, mythical consciousness, symbols and signs. This knowledge is best conveyed through artistic creativity that draws on codes, forms, sign systems, authentic primal experiences that are recognised and accepted by a tribe, a community and made their own.
