TALKS WITH M.K.ČIURLIONI This evening, one of Lithuania's most renowned pianists, Petras Geniušas, will invite you to listen to wonderful music. The programme will include solo improvisations on the motifs of works by M. K. Čiurlionis. This event is by no means the first attempt at improvisation by this charismatic piano musician. The audience has already heard Geniušas' ensembles with masters of this genre V. Čekasinas, L. Mockūnas and others. Among Lithuanian performers, Prof. PETRAS GENIUŠAS is distinguished by the versatility of his interests and his constant, often risky search for new forms of expression, for unusual musical and spiritual experiences. He has mastered a wide repertoire of classical, romantic and contemporary works and gives recitals and concerts as a soloist with Lithuanian symphony orchestras, various chamber ensembles, soloists and conductors. In addition to his regular concert activity in Lithuania, Geniušas has earned international recognition for his performances in more than forty countries and in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including the Lincoln Center's "Alice Tully" and "Avery Fisher" in New York, Tokyo's "Geijitsu Geikijo", and the "Musikverein" in Vienna. In 2011, Petras Geniušas was awarded the Honorary Badge of the Ministry of Culture "Carry Your Light and Believe", and in 2015 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Grand Duke Gediminas of Lithuania.
