Programme:
original songs and compositions by Undīne Rolava and Agnė Pasaravičienė
On 1 October, the Baltic Nordic Music Festival invites you to celebrate the World Music Day and to launch the festival's musical salutes with the Agnė Pasaravičienė Quartet (Lithuania-Denmark) and the Latvian jazz singer, composer and singer-songwriter Undīne Rolava.
Latvian vocalist and songwriter Undīne Rolava discovered very early on that music is a way of life for her, which can be filled not only by singing but also by composing. She creates her sonic world with sensitive melodies that grow out of sentimental feelings and experiences, her songs are influenced by jazz, classical and folk music, her lyrics reflect colourful scenes of life with humorous inclusions, and she is always ready to curiously embark on new musical journeys and to engage with her listeners in a lively manner.
The first concert of the festival is also a new musical journey, where U. Rolava will meet the quartet of graduates of the Royal Academy of Music in Aalborg (Denmark), formed by the young Lithuanian pianist Agnė Pasaravičienė. The members of the quartet all come from different places and have their own sentiments for Denmark: Agnes Pasaravičienė and saxophonist Tadas from Lithuania, double bassist Jan Sedlák from the Czech Republic, Yannick Ballmann from Belgium. All four musicians' biographies are full of concerts in Western European cities, projects with other bands and musicians, recordings, accolades, studies, and inspirations ranging from traditional jazz, modern, world, classical, and audiovisual performances.
Agne Pasaravičienė's Quartet has been performing since 2020. The group has appeared at the Danish jazz festivals Aarhus Jazz, Supernova Jazz Blast, VinterJazz, and in 2021 it gave concerts in various Lithuanian cities as a participant of the project "Jazz Caravan". The quartet's compositions weave together classical, jazz and pop influences, which convey our everyday stories and invite listeners to wander along the paths of their personal lives.
