The artist is exhibiting only a small part of his work - paintings and drawings. It is in painting that the emotional element of Markūnas' personality is most clearly revealed. The artist uses colour, light and gesture as the most important means of expression. The dynamic expression of brushstrokes on large-format canvases, paper, wood or corrugated metal panels, as well as the perception of colour, has varied in Markūnas's work, from active colour to monochrome in the images created using the technique of graphite (graphite painting). The energetic effect of light and unlimited fantasy are powerfully revealed in the drawings created with masterly authorial technique. According to the poet Julius Keller, human nature is born in them as if from a primordial cosmic element. From the depths of nothingness or the subconscious, frightening yet hypnotic images emerge. Out of chaos, a new world is born. The world of Eimutis Markūnas. The exhibition will be open at Vilnius City Hall (Didžioji str. 31, Vilnius) until 30 August.
