"ANYKŠČIŲ ŠILELIS"
A mini-performance based on the poem by Antanas Baranauskas
On October 16, Klaipėda's Fishermen's Palace will host a performance based on the poem by the famous classic of the Lithuanian literature Antanas Baranauskas. The stage version of "Anykščių šilelis" will be presented by the actor Paulius Čižinauskas of the theatre "Cezario grupė":
"O, gods! As much as I dig through the text of A. Baranauskas' "Anykščių šilelis", I keep finding unheard unseen words. Whether they are edible or poisonous, many people do not know. How strange: "Šilelis" has been translated into two dozen languages around the world (only Kristijonas Donelaitis's "Metai" has more), but it is not the easiest thing to bite into in Lithuania. And so the desire to translate it into another language - the language of the stage. And the speakers of the stage search not only for the meanings of the text, but also for the meanings of the sound, using the vibrations of the music and gesticulations of the body. So I invite the composer Ieva Marija Baranauskaitė to translate Šilelis into the language of the stage.
The creators of the mini-performance "Anykščių šilelis" invite us to experience the work of A. Baranauskas' poem on stage, that is to say, on the stage, adding to the Lithuanian text a couple of foreign languages that pay homage to the famous poem and infusing the "Šilelis" with the winds of electronic piano.
The translations used in the play are by Peter Tempest (English), Carmen Caro Dugo (Spanish).
