"Let us raise, let us raise a glass of merriment!" - that's how the path of professional Lithuanian opera began 100 years ago at the Opera and Drama Theatre in Kaunas!
To mark the occasion, opera soloists Ona Kolobovaitė, Egidijus Bavikinas, Liudas Mikalauskas and pianist Beata Vingraitė, who are all popular with the audience, laureates of international competitions, have prepared a chamber performance of Verdi's opera La Traviata. Why chamber? Because it is performed without an orchestra and choir, and some of the mass scenes will be replaced by extracts from the novel The Lady with the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas, on which this opera was originally based in the 19th century.
From celebration to anger, from love to death, you will be guided by the participating artists, as they reveal the untold dramas of the lives of one of the most desirable courtesans in Paris, Violeta, as well as of a young provincial bachelor, Alfredo, and his father, Germain.
