Brazilian rhythm virtuosos SAMBA ME and internationally renowned Lithuanian jazz singer Eglė Petrošiūtė present the concert programme "Hot Brazilian Treasures".
Brazilian music is one of the world's richest and most popular musical cultures, blending classical, African rhythms, folk, jazz and other styles. It is a music that excites and pulsates with life.
SAMBA ME is a quartet of internationally renowned musicians, singers and songwriters of the highest calibre, presenting to Lithuania music inspired by Brazil's cultural treasure. Hot rhythms and melodies of stunning beauty draw the audience into an act of authentic musical expression. Their concerts are always dynamic: from the calm, warming bosanova to the wild drum show moments when not only the musicians but also the audience can break free from the shackles of normality and completely relax and open their imagination.
The band's guitarist and vocalist, Djâmen Farias, is a young Brazilian composer and songwriter, who has already won a Latin Grammy award. Matheus Nicolaiewsky is a bass guitar virtuoso whose biography includes dozens of albums with American, Dutch, Brazilian, Belgian, French, Spanish and Italian jazz greats such as Peter Bernstein, Vincent Herring, Stochelo Rosenberg and many others. Fernando Paiva is not only an instrumentalist, but also an entertainer, songwriter, improviser, expert in all the rhythms of all the regions of Brazil, and has played with such jazz luminaries as Joe Zawinul Syndicate, Lionel Ritchie, Joe Anderson, Raul de Souza, Hermeto Paschoal, Alegre Correa, the Vienna Art Orchestra and others.
Vocalist, composer, lyricist and producer Eglė Petrošiūtė has already earned her place on the Dutch and international jazz and Brazilian music scene as a creative and frenetic improviser, with a warm and unique timbre. She has been fascinated by Brazilian music since she was a child and started to perform with Brazilian jazz artists during her studies. She has recently released the album Bird`s Notes with renowned Dutch and Brazilian instrumentalists and Zennez Records.
