In its 111th season, the Vilnius Old Theatre looks back at the history of the Theatre building and reflects the era of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre, which has been in the building for years, by initiating musical programmes and opera productions. The first swallow is British early music legend Trevor Pinnock, together with soloist Lauryna Bendžūnaitė (soprano), the St Christopher Chamber Orchestra and the International Wind Ensemble, who will present Endless Pleasure, a concert programme of the most famous opuses by Georg Friedrich Handel (1685-1759) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791).
The world's most famous concert halls and theatres have been delighted by the highest level of craftsmanship, the performance, the space that evokes the aura of the Old Opera House, the excellent acoustics - isn't it an infinite pleasure?
The Endless Pleasure concert programme is a first acquaintance, a kind of introduction to the production of G.F. Handel's opera The Eyes and Galatea, which will be staged at the Old Theatre in Vilnius in spring 2025, which will be created by Maestro Trevor Pinnock in collaboration with the director Gintaras Varnas. In November 2024, Endless Pleasure will be heard not only by the residents of the capital city, but also by visitors to the cultural centres of Vilkaviskis and Visaginas.
