Event description
The roots of Voldemārs Barakauskas' work must be found in his genes. The famous professor Vytenis Rimkus, of great memory, is Voldemar's uncle, but the artist himself says that he was particularly attracted to art by his grandfather Jaroslavas Rimkus, a philologist and an excellent draughtsman. This exhibition is particularly close to the artist's heart because we know him as a master of watercolours, and here he presents objects as if recalling one of his first exhibitions at the Šiauliai University Art Gallery, where he poured a layer of dust almost 20 centimetres thick in a glass box and presented erotic figurines. Alvidas Paškauskas' workshop is a kingdom of stone, metal and wood. His sculptures are born here. The sculptor is known for his distinctive works using wood, metal and glass, and combining these materials to reveal their flexibility but also their strength. He has created and presented a collection of unique crosses in 2016. Sigitas Prancuičis' assemblages are ranked alongside the best Lithuanian assemblagists. This is the area of his work that has attracted him the most for the last two decades. The exhibition will be open until 12 October at the Laiptai Gallery (Žemaitės str. 83, Šiauliai).
