Event description
The exposition presents the personal belongings of the Lozoraičiai family (from interiors to clothing details), as well as works of art from the Lozoraičiai family's donated art collection. Their own photographs reveal how the everyday life of diplomats was intertwined with their work, when cultural diplomacy became a way of life. The LRT archive provided an opportunity to listen to and recall the debates of the first presidential election. Visitors to the exhibition will also be invited to reflect on an alternative history of what would have happened if Stasys Lozoraitis had won the 1993 presidential election. A century of state history is linked to the Lozoraičiai surname. Several generations of this family have worked for Lithuania and ensured its prosperity - Stasys Lozoraitis Sr. (1898-1983), Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania (1934-1938), Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Minister of the Republic of Lithuania in Italy, and Chief of the Lithuanian Diplomatic Service (1940-1983), Stasys Lozoraitis Junior, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania (1924-1994), and Kazys Lozoraitis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Holy See and the Order of Malta (1929-2007). They were united by the hope of living in an independent state and contributing to the well-being of their homeland through their work. The exhibition will be open at the National Mikolas Konstantinas Čiurlionis Museum of Art (V. Putvinskio str. 55, Kaunas) until 16 February 2025.
