One of the most famous composers in the world, the American minimalist Michael Gordon is connected to Vilnius by his family history. Although he has visited the capital many times, he will present the world premiere here for the first time. With the piece, the composer will highlight the cultural heritage of the Jewish Vilnius that is close to him. The space chosen by Michael Gordon - the inner courtyard of the Vilnius Theater "Lėlė" and the Youth Theater - preserves both light and dark memories of Jewish history: from the activities of the gymnasium that enriched the culture of the city to the shocking stories of the Vilnius ghetto. As usual, Mr. Gordon will take you on a meditative musical journey. The work for 9 trombones "Resonance" will fill the unique acoustic space with sculptural sounds, perfectly in harmony with the 2000 in the yard. The "Flame of Hope" sculpture was built to honor the victims of the Holocaust.
Michael Gordon himself will participate in the premiere, and the event will be complemented by a conversation with the composer.
