Event description
At the beginning of the 20th century, Lithuania watched European fashion through a keyhole - with curiosity and eagerness, but with limited access. Today, our country's creatives are already looking through a wide-open window, not only with unrestricted access to the latest trends, but also with the opportunity to participate in their creation. Let's Talk shows the evolution of the country's fashion from the early 20th century to today. It also looks at visions for the future of fashion. The key element of the exhibition is the mirror, which symbolises reflections of past fashion as well as current trends and insights into the future. Starting with a glance through the keyhole, the exhibition expands to a free look through a wide-open window into the future, inviting visitors to discuss how Lithuanian fashion will continue to evolve. One of the exhibition's fundamental aims is to reflect the socio-cultural and economic life of society as betrayed by the changes in fashion over time. In this context, the ideas of women's liberation and political resistance during the period of occupation, reflected in clothing, play an important role. The 21st century part of the exhibition focuses on white fashion trends, which symbolise today's society's aspiration to build an equal future. These trends reflect not only the evolution of the fashion world, but also broader changes in society, where individuality and freedom of expression are becoming increasingly important value orientations. The Antanas Žmuidzinavičius Museum of Works and Collections (V. Putvinskio str. 64, Kaunas) will be open until 30 March.
