Event description
The exhibition features works by S. Paukštis from the collections of Šiauliai "Aušra" Museum - Museum of Photography, Lithuanian Photographers' Union, MO Museum, Ramutis Petniūnas' collection and the author's archive. Saulius Paukštys (born in 1964 in Vilnius), an avant-garde photographer, social activist and organiser of various art actions, appeared on the Lithuanian photography scene in the last decade of the Soviet era. Having started photographing the lives of his classmates during his student days in Kaunas between 1982 and 1987, he seriously immersed himself in photographic creation, experimentation and the search for his own creative path. His acquaintance with Arūnas Kulikauskas, Gintautas Stulgaičius, Visvaldas Dragūnas, and his involvement in the informal group of "The Predators" were decisive in this regard. The Photography Museum (Vilniaus g. 140, Šiauliai) will be open until 2 March.
