Event description
On Friday, 26 April, a double concert awaits the festival audience. The first part of the concert will feature one of the busiest musicians on the Lithuanian jazz and pop music scene today - pianist, composer and vocalist Giedrius Nakas.
The second part of the concert will feature Theo Croker - Grammy nominee, renowned American jazz trumpeter and vocalist.
Giedrius Nakas, who has played at Kaunas Jazz together with other artists, will take the centre stage this time around.
The pianist and composer is known to many from his concert work with many famous Lithuanian bands and performers, such as Saulės Kliošas, Andrius Mamontovas, Jurga, Monika Linkytė, Monika Liu, Vilnius JJazz Ensemble, and many others.
Giedrius Nakas has already released four albums of his own works, which include a wide range of music, from modern jazz, to vocal soul, to rhythm & blues.
He is preparing a special programme for the Kaunas Jazz stage, where you can expect some surprises and unexpected moments - this musician's path has never been boring and predictable.
After the Lithuanian musician, the American Theo Croker is called a man who can tell amazing stories with his trumpet.
A jazz graduate from the United States, Croker then spent seven years in China, where he expanded his musical palette to include everything from salsa to hip hop to blues.
Back home, Croker burst onto the music scene with 2014's "Afro Physicist", an album produced with the help of the legendary singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.
The talented young musician quickly attracted the attention of the brightest stars, including trumpeter Roy Hargrove, and legendary producer Quincy Jones.
Theo's 2019 album Star People Nation was an enormous success and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Contemporary Instrumental Music Album.
Theo Croker released his seventh album Love Quantum in 2022, and capped off the year with a concert album devoted to the work of the legendary Miles Davis, recorded with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
The audience of "Kaunas Jazz" can look forward to a journey through Theo Croker's colourful and rich world of music, which combines elements of jazz, hip-hop, and pop.
