A Canadian woman from Marseille. Music and dance.
Songs from the Aquarium album and more.
Clara Giambino from France with her band in Rietave.
Clara is a professional theatre dancer. She was born and raised in Marseille. 5 years ago, after studying in France, UK and Israel, she came to Kaunas to work in the dance theatre AURA. As the artist herself says, during this period she fell in love with the temporary capital of Lithuania and already calls this city her home. The talented artist has even set up a business here, running a coffee and dessert house together with a colleague.
"I can definitely call Kaunas my home now. I feel very comfortable here. I used to live in London for a year, but I wasn't happy there. It was just too much for me. I like Kaunas for many reasons. Even though it is a relatively small city, there are a lot of interesting things to do. It has a very active cultural life. It is very dynamic, but at the same time very cosy and intimate," she said.
But the theatre scene and the joys and worries of business were not enough for this active girl. Clara, who has been singing in Lithuania since she was a baby, decided to revive her musical passion, which had faded in her teens due to her natural shyness, and even started to compose original songs.
"My grandmother told me I started singing when I was just 6 months old. Then, she said, I was already singing lullabies to myself at bedtime. When I was little, I was not afraid to sing in front of an audience. But in my teens, my innate introvertedness got the better of me and singing in public became very difficult. From primary school until my high school graduation, I sang just for myself, alone at home. Then I started to learn the piano on my own. This instrument is my great passion and I still accompany myself with it", she recalls.
Clara says that her fear of singing in public left her when she started studying at the Dance Academy of Nantes in her home country. Today, she is slowly trying to knock on the door of potential fans of her musical work.
