Over the decades, collective gardens have become a phenomenon that is firmly embedded in our public consciousness. Once established on the barren lands of decaying villages, former polygons or collective farms, gardens are today flirting with suburban lifestyles or reviving in other forms, such as community initiatives. The relationship with this strange, seemingly in-between place has been reflected on by authors from different fields: artists, contemporary artists, architects, photographers, TV presenters and writers. Through works and archival material, the exhibition presents visions and contradictions of collective gardens: the challenges posed by infrastructure, the variety of garden houses, the adventurism of gardeners, and the constant maintenance of gardens, which could be both entangling and liberating at the same time.
