In "Schoolgirl - Guesthouse Hostess", 12-year-old Okko, who lost her parents in a car accident, starts living in the countryside with her grandmother. Her grandmother runs a traditional Japanese inn with hot spring baths, and Okko learns from her, knowing that one day she will inherit the business herself. Here, the girl spots friendly spirits who help her get used to her new routine.
K. Kōsaka started her career as an animator at Oh! Productions studio before joining the famous Ghibli studio. There, as Animation Director and Lead Animator, he contributed to such productions as "Spirited Away," "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" and others. Speaking about his vision for the film "The Schoolgirl Guesthouse Keeper", Kōsaka says that one of the fields where selfishness does not work is the accommodation industry, where the most important thing is a satisfied customer. According to the director, dedicating oneself to others brings out the best in people, and he hopes that viewers will see this in his work as well.
