The 63rd annual Šiauliai City Artists' Exhibition has a cult status, so there is no need to advertise it, but it is necessary to remind a few things. It is one of the longest running group exhibitions in Lithuania. It is an ongoing event that has shaped several generations of artists. It is an annual exhibition that was meant to be closed or ignored, and which has been reborn with new vigour or ideas. It is a social phenomenon of urban life, whose history, the biographies of its participants and the iconography of its works reflect the city's vibrant history, its changing tastes, values and life. Therefore, this exhibition should not be seen as one among many, but as an event that creates a chronicle of the city's art and culture, which combines the contingencies of time into a coherent narrative. What is the most important thing in it? The diversity of the authors of this narrative, which you will not see in any other event. This is why the participants of the exhibition have a unique opportunity to feel and see, compare and rediscover the pulse of the city's artistic life, and to understand their own place in this common field of creation. The Šiauliai Art Gallery (Vilniaus g. 245) will be open until 29 June.
