First produced on Broadway in 1996, Caveman has become the longest-running one-act play in Broadway history. Since then, the hugely popular production has spread around the world and has been presented in more than 30 countries. It was first performed in Lithuania in 2005. It has been performed over 1000 times in different cities of our country! The main and only character was portrayed by actors Dainius Kazlauskas, Kostas Smoriginas, Darius Meškauskas, Vaidotas Martinaitis and Giedrius Savickas.
In the brand new production of the play, the role of the Caveman will be played by the actor Paulius Valaskevičius, who is well known to the audience from his roles in Domino Theatre's productions of "Men by Announcement", "Something's Wrong Here", and the TV projects "Dviračio žinios", "Women Lie Better", "Serious Affairs", "Monika Needs Love", and "All Men Are Pigs". The play is directed by Dainius Kazlauskas, who has created popular comedies such as "Men by Announcement", "The Pianists", "Boeing Boeing", "Psychos" and "Tobuli lielai".
The comedy "Caveman" deals with a topic that will probably never go out of fashion - the relationship between men and women and its dynamics. The play reveals the witty differences between the sexes in life situations where both men and women will recognise themselves. Have you ever wondered why men can't multitask and women get so frustrated with the splashed bathroom mirror? In the comedy "Cave Man", which is celebrating its 20th anniversary on the Lithuanian stage, we will explore an inexhaustible topic - men, women and their relationships. We will try to understand the differences and similarities between the sexes and laugh at life situations where we recognise ourselves. We will learn that although the world is changing, we are still dealing with the same issues from the time of the "caveman".
"The themes of the play are timeless, at least as long as there is a man and a woman, their relationship and the differences between the sexes. Every production of The Cave Man is based on contemporary issues, so the play is constantly evolving. If you saw the play five or ten years ago, you will see completely different situations now," says director Dainius Kazlauskas.
The play is produced in collaboration with Theater Mogul.
