Event description
To go into the forest and die for the freedom of our homeland, or to obey the occupiers and survive? The film 'Poet,' by Giedrius Tamoševičius and Vytautas V. Landsbergis, is based on the true stories of Lithuanian partisans. It is a poignant film about the desire for freedom, the courage to resist a hated regime at any cost, even one's own life. The film is like a living history lesson, vividly illustrating the choices that many former officers of independent Lithuania, students, teachers, and other ordinary citizens had to make during the post-war years. The film, based on the biographical stories of Kostas Kubilinskas and other post-war personalities, was named the best film from the Baltics at the 'Juodosios Naktys' film festival in Tallinn in November.
