The Lithuanian National Museum will present an exceptional exhibition at the House of History dedicated to the migration processes in Lithuania from the mid-19th century to the present day.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the main waves of migration and their directions, causes and consequences, as well as the stories of prominent personalities who have made a significant mark on the global context with their life and work. The exhibition's scenography will allow you to experience different periods of migration waves and their space, and will surprise you with unique stories embedded in the everyday life of migration.
The narrative of the exhibition will lead you to the main message: migration is a natural historical process, with both negative and positive sides, but it undoubtedly allows Lithuanians to change the world, and for the world to change Lithuania.
The aim of the organisers is to bring together people living in Lithuania and abroad, so the process will include representatives of the diaspora as well as foreigners living in Lithuania, and will emphasise not only the historical but also the current processes. In order to broaden the understanding of Lithuanian history through the achievements and inventions of Lithuanians in the Diaspora, the exhibition will also remind us of people who have worked outside Lithuania and have had a huge impact on the world. In order to collect as many stories as possible and to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of migratory experiences, this exhibition has been in preparation for several years: the Migration Storytelling Festivals (2021 and 2022, a href="https://migrationstory.lnm.lt/">webpage and a separate group in social networks to collect them, an expedition in Lithuanian communities in North and South America,
