This time we invite you to get acquainted with an exhibit that tells the history of Kaunas public transport - a Volga GAZ-24 taxi car wheel cover. The Volga GAZ-24 type of cars that rolled on the streets of Kaunas started to be produced in 1968.Taxis of this model were painted in yellow, and the front passenger and driver's doors had a taxi logo with a black "T" letter. The same logo was stamped on the wheel arches. They also had identification numbers stamped on them to prevent the taxi rims from being stolen and used for personal cars. The exhibit was accidentally found in one of the departments of the Kaunas City Museum, in the attic of Juozas Gruodis' house. A few years after the opening of the new exhibition, the outline of an unknown door emerged in one of the spaces behind the wall displays. When one of the display stands was removed, an attic was found behind the door, which contained, among other objects, this wheel cover. As the Volga GAZ-24 taxis were produced well after the death of J. Gruodis, he is not related to this car enthusiast.
