The annual competition for the most beautiful books in the Czech Republic is organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Museum of Czech Literature. The 58th edition of the competition featured 367 books by Czech publishers, students of graphic design and publishing schools, graphic designers and art institutions, published and published in the Czech Republic in 2022. The books were judged on graphic quality, cover design, printing quality, binding, illustrations, ideas and originality. The competition is divided into seven categories: scientific literature, fiction, children's and adolescents' literature, textbooks, books on art, bibliophilic and authored books, and students' works. The three best books in each category are announced and a cash prize is awarded to the first prize winner. There is also an award for a young author (under 30). The exhibition of the most beautiful books in the Czech Republic at the Kazis Varnelas House-Museum will feature 23 winning books. This year, more than 120 titles published in 2023 were in the running, submitted by more than 60 publishers. 21 books were honoured with prizes and diplomas: the Main Prize of the Year, 6 cash prizes and 12 diplomas in six thematic categories, with the Lithuanian Artists' Union and the Vilnius Academy of Arts also each awarding a prize. The competition awards celebration and the annual catalogue "The Most Beautiful Lithuanian Books of the Year" are part of the cultural programme of the international Vilnius Book Fair, which has become a tradition.
