Jazz band - the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, conducted by Will Salden, with a new programme!
Every two years, this sophisticated and stylish ensemble visits Lithuania.
The orchestra is one of only three orchestras in the world to have been granted the right to be called such, and the only one to work in the Baltic States!
The repertoire of the Glenn Miller Orchestra includes pieces by prominent composers from the big band era - the legendary jazz era of the 30s and 50s.
Wil Salden, a well-known musician and performer from the Netherlands, fell in love with jazz long ago and forever, and managed to bring together great musicians from different countries who are equally in love and passionate about jazz.
Wil and his musicians are trying to revive Miller's magic formula: "Every soloist and music arranger should strive to create a completely new and flawless sound, recognisable from the very first note."
By the way, according to legend, the most unique and truly recognisable sound of Glenn Miller's orchestra came about by accident. During the concert, the trumpeter injured his lip and the musician with the clarinet was forced to take up his role.
This is how Glenn Miller's style of playing was born - a style that gives the audience an unforgettable sense of celebration and contact with the Wonder of Music!!
Naturally, the concert will culminate in a performance of the most famous piece, the "Moonlight Serenade" from the film "Valley of the Sun", which immerses the audience in the incredible atmosphere of the Glenn Miller era.
