We are proud to present - a dessert for the jazz gourmand to end the club season - modern jazz music by living legends from the USA, Yellowjackets, on the JazzCellar11 stage. The two GRAMMY Award winners and 17 GRAMMY nominees kick off their tour (second concert) in Vilnius by giving us the opportunity to listen live to their 30th album Parallel Motion.
The band, which has existed for over 40 years, is one of the leaders in its style. Constantly reinventing themselves through ever-higher levels of instrumentation in their unique electro-acoustic sound, the current line-up of Bob Mintzer (tenor and soprano sax/EWI), Russell Ferrante (piano/keyboards), Will Kennedy (drums, keyboards), and Dane Alderson (electric bass, MIDI sequencer), showcase the band in its golden age.
It's probably pointless to list their collaborations with other artists - it's the entire encyclopedia of modern jazz. It's worth noting that their 25th album was recorded with the legendary WRD Big Band.
"This band never rests on its laurels," says tenor sax/EWI player Bob Mintzer, a member of the Yellowjackets since 1990 and principal conductor of the WDR Big Band since 2016. "The Yellowjackets are always renewing themselves and discovering new things. The four of us are the most flexible musicians I have ever worked with. Any situation, any style, we know we can do it. As far as the WDR is concerned, they are one of the best big jazz ensembles in the world. I knew that these two bands would make a beautiful marriage."
Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear the legends of jazz up close and personal.
