Wes Montgomery is one of the most famous jazz guitarists in the United States. Born in March 101 years ago, he became popular in the post-war years for his unusual playing technique. Soon Wes was one of the most popular guitarists of the post bop era, and his influence continues to influence jazz and non-jazz artists today. Wes Montgomery has been cited as an inspiration by artists such as Pat Martino, George Benson, Russell Malone, Emily Remler, Kenny Burrell, Pat Metheny, Steve Howe and Jimi Hendrix.
This evening will be dedicated to the music of Wes Montgomery, performed by professional musicians well known not only to the jazz community, but also to the young and talented guitarist Deimantas Balys (Castor Stetson, ILLUME ...), and Gabrielius Rimeika, who has been a part of many musical projects, bands, and festivals, as well as to the Augustas Baronas.
