Event description
The Nordic-Baltic spatial sound project Live Space, curated by the Centre for Music Innovation Studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, is unique in that it will be presented in a dedicated space - the cultural complex Sodas 2123, where Riga-based Dirty Deal Audio will form a sphere of surround sound. It will feature compositions by Live Space's faculty members selected especially for this occasion, as well as works by students and faculty members who have previously participated in international seminars coordinated by the LAMT.
The concert will use a whole cloud of speakers, the entirety of which will form a dome under which the listener will experience the effect of total immersion in sound. The dome, ten metres in diameter and almost five metres high, is an extraordinary space and the audience's aural experience will be extraordinary.
This project aims to demonstrate how spatial sound can change the reception and perception of music, and will provide Nordic and Baltic composers with the opportunity to present their innovative ideas and solutions. For the audience, this evening is an opportunity to immerse themselves in a sonic environment where the traditional criteria of sound perception no longer apply. It will provide a glimpse of what is to come.
