"Genesis"
Festival "Jauna muzika" and the Artists' Residence in Druskininkai present an international programme of electroacoustic music, featuring composers and sound artists from Ukraine, Sweden and Austria. The residents will live in Druskininkai for one month and their latest works will be premiered on 25 April in Vilnius, at the Arts Printing House.
This time the artists will explore the phenomenon of genesis (Gr. génesis - origin, creation) through the prisms of ethnology, acoustics and sociology. Austria's Manu Mayr promises to demonstrate the spatial potential of the electric double bass (Spatial Sound Studio No. 1 for electric bass), while Ukraine's Serhiy Vilka will delve into the potential of the electroacoustic flute. Irina Novikova, a Ukrainian living in Sweden, will use sound and image to evoke the ritual of burning eagles, while Swedish composer Fritiof Palm's ambitious composition is based on myths and the sounds of nature.
Project is funded by the Culture Moves Europe programme.
