To commemorate the year of exiles and political prisoners, the premiere of composer Algirdas Martinaitis' 6-part oratorio "Invocation to faith and hope" for reader, mixed choir and symphony orchestra will be performed. Invocation (lat.invocatio) is a call, an appeal to all of us in the words of V. Mykolaičius-Putin, Maironius, psalms, the New Testament, the liturgy of the Lithuanian Freedom Fighters, prominent Lithuanian clergymen: Alf. Svarinska, Alf. Lipniūnas, J. Zdebskis sermon fragments, excerpts from letters.
In the time of the current war and world turmoil, the great suffering of exile and imprisonment of the people of Lithuania after the war must become a sacred memory, a sacred reflection for the present and the future. The hopeful Closing Invocation from the First Letter of John (1 John 4:7) is also dedicated to this: "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God."
The concert is organized in cooperation with VšĮ Pažaislis music festival The project is financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania
