In Andalusia during the time of Franco, in a poor but closely-knit rural community, lives a teenage mother, Antonia. Out of place in the closed and conservative community, she disappears, leaving her baby behind. Half a century later, Carmen, a casting director, is searching for an 'ordinary person' for a political campaign clip. While wandering the streets of Barcelona, she encounters a street vendor with whom she shares much more than can be seen at first glance. This gently eccentric yet soberly realistic film explores the instability of time and emotions, and the complex relationship between reality and image. N-13
