Event description
The exhibition is deliberately structured in two layers, which are offered to the viewer as Then and Now. However, no rules are imposed on the viewer, nor are specific references imposed. There is no attempt to establish a structure for viewing, let alone perceiving, the exhibition, because each of the exhibits is not pulled out of dusty recesses or shelves, nor is it the result of a finite idea. No. The past and the present are still intertwined in these layers. Each work is rethought, added to, purified and each time its idea is unveiled differently. With this emphasis on the continuously experienced Beginning of creation, Anatoliy Klementsov's exhibition presents significant early works (from 1984 onwards) up to the most recent ones, which are associated with a constant experience of oneself and the world: painful, paradoxical, ironic, tragic and always maximally visual. The exhibition includes the work Perpetuum mobile, the documentary of the performance Landschaft-1, the cycles De la Marionette, Sava Japan, etc. Destruction, The Way, which state the artist's constant confrontation with his work, rethinking it anew. This undoubtedly influences his further creative strategies - themes, ways of thinking and expression. The exhibition Beginnings is about this. It will be open until 1 September at the Exhibition Hall of the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (Didžioji Vandens g. 2, Klaipėda).
