In the shadow of the baroque churches and palaces of Antakalnis, there is a much younger layer of this part of the city's past, so this time we will be looking for traces of the 20th century in Antakalnis. And it was a colourful century, so there will be a whole colourful array of stories! During the Tsarist years, members of secret organisations gathered here; during the Polish interwar period, a psychiatric hospital was set up, and old people rushed to buy up the monks' lands; during the Soviet era, artists - writers, poets, painters, sculptors and musicians - began to move to Antakalnis. They walked the streets named after the seasons and the pagan goddesses of Lithuania, climbed the Raven's Hill and drew inspiration, and the past of Antakalnis has taken up residence in their works, which have preserved that special aura. So the stories of this walk will be not so old, in fact, you may even hear about your acquaintances who lived in Antakalnis.
