Welcome to the opening of Antanas Šeronas's painting exhibition THE SHADOWS OF TIME on 6 March at 5 pm.
Antanas Šeronas lives and works in Šiauliai, he is working intensively, methodically, and not in front of the camera, which is why over the years he has painted a lot of paintings, which he wants to show to the capital's art lovers, who are aware of the work of the younger generation of this young artist, as well as those who value his unique style.
Having held several large solo exhibitions in different cities of Lithuania, Antanas invites the citizens of Vilnius to share with him his "Traces of Time", which he traces and captures with the sensations of the signs left by time and of our presence in that "time".
Directionally, he has developed a distinctive style, a peculiarity of composition of motifs and a specific way of focusing. His paintings are not the currently fashionable post-modernist repetitions, simulacra of classical images, "trendy" pop-art "mash", but rather the sensed, seen, recorded reality, emotional landscapes, fixation of object motifs, paintings in which objects affected by decay, decay, as if they were covered with the patina of time and the rusty objects.
Antanas Šeronas is a true colourist, his works are characterised by a certain stylisation, aptly chosen motifs, an unconventional way of seeing, a specific focus on the chosen visual theme, the emotional impact of the images, and the ability to suspend not only the image, the imagery, but also time. The artist's works have a melancholic air, he is close to reminiscent themes, the fixation of the sensations of forgetfulness, it seems that at first glance, traditionally perceived urban landscapes, interior motifs really do contain "traces of time", marks and imprints left by man, nature. These are not only visually expressive paintings, but also emotionally and emotionally charged images, which tell the stories, discoveries and losses of unseen, perhaps past or present people. It's like walking on the edges, on the sensitive margins, when "it's sadly beautiful" or "it's funny through tears"... He manages to catch these rather hard to describe emotions, to capture them in landscapes, in fragments of landscapes, in "portraits" of smouldering objects.
In this exhibition we will see not only works painted in Lithuania, but also works painted in Sicily, or impressions inspired by the island of Sicily.
