Árpád Forgó (Hungary) and Mihkel Ilus (Estonia): 'Point of View'

Exhibition

Event description

Where is the point at which the point of view changes, where meaning changes; where things end or begin, where our perception is formed and we begin to question what we see? Where is the point at which everything is summed up? The KCCC Exhibition Hall presents unique works by foreign artists, inviting the viewer to search for "final limits" and motivating them to reflect on them. When we look at a work of art, we look at materials. For centuries, as today, canvas, pores and paints have been the main materials for painting. The significance of these classical painting materials is the starting point for the participating artists and the main concept of the exhibition. The recent Á. Forgó's canvas solutions (from the Diagonal Compositions series and wall objects from the Bipolar series) are in dialogue with M. Illus' recent installations and recontextualised earlier works. Both artists are attracted by geometry and minimalism, which they use to create compositions, structures and sculptural works. The exhibition presents very different visual outcomes, revealing the artists' different approaches and attitudes towards materiality. The works in the exhibition are the results of consistent experimentation over the last few years.
