At the end of December last year, the last orphanages in Šakiai, Kupiškis and Kaunas regions were closed. Around 6,000 children who have lost parental care live with temporary and permanent guardians, in foster homes, but more than 1,000 more children, most of them older than 10 years, live in family homes. At least 6 children in Lithuania need a guardian or permanent guardian every day. "Then I Saw You" is not only a wonderful story about the daily life of foster families, but also a cautionary call to think about what each one of us could give to all our children. The photographs of the protagonists of the exhibition - the children and the foster carers who receive them - are displayed as if in a family album, revealing how the fostered child is included in the overall family picture. This atmosphere is complemented by thoughts, comments and memories written by family members. The exhibition will be open at the House of Stories (T. Kosciuškos str. 3, Vilnius) until 6 March.
