The exhibition explores how an artist's expression changes over time - from a beginner, who is still discovering his or her potential, to today's, often (in the context of the Aukštaitija region) already established artist. Young authors also find a place here. They are often inclined to experiment, so despite their still short creative path, changes in their work also abound. This time Aukštaitija art is a bit sentimental. I have no doubt that it will be fun for both the viewer and the authors themselves to remember how it all started, what the first works looked like, how the way of representation, the means, the themes changed. During the formation of the exposition, it became obvious that a number of authors have radically changed the direction of their work by switching from one medium to another. Those who remained faithful to their chosen branch of art changed stylistically and genre-wise. It should be stressed that the process of selecting the works was not easy. It was not necessarily the iconic first works that were submitted, but rather those that the artist had managed to preserve. Many no longer had their early works and had to borrow them from friends, relatives and museums. I hope that this process has also allowed the artists themselves to look at their work in a new way, and that it will offer the viewer a chance to become better acquainted with the artists presented. Traditionally, the exhibition reflects the work of representatives of various art disciplines (painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics, glass, photography, etc.). Interestingly, alongside the usual predominance of painting, this year, printmaking has a clear position. In addition, young artists are also abundant in the exhibition, which is encouraging when thinking about the perspectives of visual art in the Aukštaitija region.
