More than 60 artists from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Denmark and Israel are taking part in the exhibition. "We are not far from the original idea of inviting artists from the countries around the Baltic Sea to an international watercolour gathering, thus continuing the tradition of Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian watercolour triennials that has been going on since 1968, which was developed by Latvian artists until the end of the twentieth century, and revived in Lithuania after a hiatus, with the holding of the first international exhibition in 2006, entitled "Baltic Bridges". However, the range of themes and the techniques and materials used in the exhibitions have expanded over the past two decades. This year's exhibition will again feature photography and acrylics, objects and collages that reflect on watercolour and are dedicated to the essential qualities of this painting technique - transparency, translucency, layers and moulding", - says the author of the Biennial's idea, watercolour artist Eugenijus Nalevaika.
