Event description
The concept of time is complex and multifaceted in the modern world. Benjamin Ančeris' series of paintings explores the transformation of the experience of time in a rapidly changing technological and social context. In an era of digital progress, time is becoming not only a unit of measurement, but also a symbol of personal and collective life, reflecting pace, pressure and constant movement.
The works in the exhibition explore how the perception and sense of time shapes the human condition - anxiety, strangeness, blurriness - and the struggle to adapt to ever-changing circumstances. Bright colours, boundary markers, targets and the symbolism of movement become the language of the artist's visual narrative, reflecting the rushing world and the human being that exists within it.
At the heart of the series is the notion of the collision, symbolizing the destructive but pivotal moment when the flow of time stops and makes space for change. This moment of "human time" becomes a liberating step that allows one to rethink one's own place and meaning in the world.
Benjamin Ancher's new exhibition invites us to reflect on the dimension of time as a cultural, social and personal experience. This dialogue about the flow of time and its impact helps to better understand the pace of contemporary life, the tensions and human efforts to adapt to a world in which change is the only constant.
The exhibition is organized by Pamėnkalnis Gallery.
The exhibition is financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture, the Lithuanian Artists' Union.
