In this exhibition, visitors will be able to get acquainted with a brief history of the origins of the Bible and its translations, old publications from the archives of the Biblical Society and the Trakai History Museum, and will have a unique opportunity to read a facsimile of the manuscript of the first manuscript translation of the Scriptures into Lithuanian by J. Bretkūnas (1590), as well as a state-of-the-art, currently available, ecumenical translation of the New Testament with commentaries. They will also be able to admire a collection of magnificent original bindings, combining the historical knowledge and practical skills of book restorers with the creative flair of leather artists and art historians. Among the more interesting exhibits are the 1824 edition edited by Professor Liudvikas Reza of the University of Königsberg, and a wedding gift copy - a luxurious leather binding made using a new material - plastic (collections of the Trakai History Museum). The exhibition will be complemented and its sacred content will be deepened and highlighted by unique folk art sculptures and graphic works from the collections of the M. K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum. The exhibition will be open at the M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum (V. Putvinskio str. 55, Kaunas) until 9 June.
