Author's works by Dainius Pulauskas.
Dainius Pulauskas is one of the most prominent Lithuanian jazz artists, pianist, keyboardist, outstanding bandleader and composer in his own right. It is his original compositions that have become the key to the success of the bands he leads, and the Dainius Pulauskas Group, which has toured all over the world, is deservedly hailed as the ambassadors of Lithuanian jazz.
Dainius Pulauskas has a discography of 20 original albums. He is the author of many unprecedented monumental projects, finding new niches of expression in jazz. "Pulauskas is undoubtedly one of Europe's most exciting fusion jazz composers," wrote critic Jan Patterson (Allaboutjazz.com, 10 October 2011)
In this concert Pulauskas invites you to listen to an acoustic jazz trio featuring talented younger jazz musicians Arman Isojan and Domantas Razmus. This trio is another collective formed by the artist, using acoustic instruments to create eloquent musical spaces tinged with northern restraint and romanticism. It is the view of three like-minded people, three soloists, three individual personalities, expressing their view of the world in a musical language. The trio will perform compositions exclusively by D. Pulauskas, which have a Baltic colouring, use various means of expression, boldly apply various jazz styles, spontaneous improvisations, polyrhythmics, the music is very contrasting, but at the same time they try not to deviate from the standards of the acoustic jazz trio performance. Pulauskas has been leading and composing for his own collective, the Dainius Pulauskas Group, which has participated in many prestigious European, Asian, African and American jazz festivals over the years of its existence.
Based on Pulauskas' original jazz compositions, the National Estonian Opera and Ballet Theatre staged a contemporary ballet Jazz Ballet Club in the 2016-2017 season and 2024-2025 season. Pulauskas has been entrusted to represent Lithuania in the creation of the collective anthem of the European Jazz Network (EJN). The pianist has performed with many Lithuanian and foreign jazz musicians, and in 2008 was invited to represent Lithuania in the "Baltic Jazz Trio", which includes the most prominent jazz musicians from the three Baltic States - Maris Briežkalns (Latvia) and Toivo Unt (Estonia). He has created interesting ethno-jazz projects with the singer Veronika Povilioniene.
Dainijus Pulauskas has received numerous awards. - In 2001, D. Pulauskas and his sextet were awarded the Golden Disk by the Lithuanian Musicians' Union, and in 2004 he received the Lithuanian Institute's "LT Identity" award for the promotion of Lithuanian jazz. In 2010, the Vilnius Jazz Festival awarded D. Pulauskas with a special prize for his contribution to Lithuanian jazz culture, and the Kaunas Jazz Festival awarded him with a special prize, the Kaunas Jazz Award (2016). In 2021, Pulauskas was awarded the Government Culture and Art Prize.
