The springtime city beckons you to wander the streets... Without a goal, without thoughts, with a heart full of barely suppressed joy, as it happens only when winter recedes...
Maybe you too will go out to wander around the Vilnius that is forgetting the grip of winter... Maybe it will be the beginning of March... Maybe even the day they give tulips to women... Maybe you'll find yourself next to a church whose cosy light beckons you to come inside... Perhaps the melody of a big band will tempt you even more...
Dainotas Varnas and Kaunas Big Band will open the magical doors of music to you again for one evening on 8 March, at the St Catherine's Church in Kaunas, the capital city. Step through it and feel as if... One Night in America
Here you'll hear superhits from Michael Bublé, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley. The melodies of the one and only Englishman in New York, Sting, will add a touch of British elegance to the American evening. The fiery melodies of Jorge Ben Jor will heat up the atmosphere with Latin American rhythms and invite spring.
If you wish, you can call the new programme of the Dainotas Varnas and Kaunas Big Band One Night in America a journey through different American cities and eras. Each piece is a striking example of its own era. No experiments in the programme. Only what you know very well and really like.
Starting at the end of last year, the new programme One Night in America by Dainotas Varnas and the Kaunas Big Band has broken all records of popularity. Tickets for the only show in Vilnius sold out quickly.
"Even then, I received complaints from those who didn't have time to buy them. So I can happily tell everyone that on 8 March we will once again spend a night in America: with its most beautiful music, a professional big band and interesting stories. Come along, those of you who didn't make it earlier. Come now, those of you who are tempted. Come, too, those of you who have been but want more. It's a top-quality evening of music and I promise wholeheartedly that this is my best programme yet," says Dainotas Varnas.
