On April 24th in Vilnius - the only concert in the Baltic countries of the brilliant guitarist Dominic Miller and his band!
We are pleased to announce that on April 24th, 7 pm, In Vilnius, at the cosy, chamber-like, acoustically ideal Dance Theatre Hall (T. Kosciuškos st. 11), the guitar genius, the amazing composer and the "right hand man" of the singer STING, Dominic Miller, and his band of music stars will give a one-off concert (the only one not only in Lithuania, but also in all the Baltic States!). The renowned guitarist will present his new concert programme "The Best of the Best".
The musicians Dominic Miller brings to Vilnius are impressive! They include current Sting bassist Nicolas Fiszman (Belgium), keyboardist Mike Lindup (leader of the famous UK funk band Level 42), and fantastic drummer Ziv Ravitz (Israel). And of course there will be mystery guests who will perform some of Sting's hits, but the band is keeping it a secret even from the organisers!
In fact, even those contemporary music fans who may not know who Miller is have certainly heard his music many times. The thing is, Dominic Miller is not only a God-given guitarist, composer and songwriter, he is also the co-writer and favourite musician of world-famous stars like Sting. World superstars who need no introduction are delighted to collaborate with him. Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Placido Domingo, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Tina Turner - and that's not the whole list of music legends the guitar virtuoso has worked with and continues to work with.
Born in Argentina to an American father and Irish mother, Dominic Miller grew up listening to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, tango and Argentine folk, blues and jazz, classical and bossa nova, Irish folk songs and American church music. All of these styles, after appropriate musical training (he moved to London and studied classical guitar and composition at the famous Guildhall School of Music), were embodied in his compositions. As he says of his diversity of styles, today he's a classical guitarist performing at the Albert Hall, tomorrow he's off to a jazz festival, and then he's got to be a "rock star" somewhere else.
As a guitarist, Miller says, "I'm best known for my collaboration with Sting. Since 1990, we have recorded 7 albums together, done over 1000 tours and the work continues to this day. We wrote many songs together. Perhaps the most famous is 'Shape of my Heart'. People often ask me: "Aren't you tired of being Dominic Miller - Sting's guitarist? I say no, because the 20 years I worked with him were the defining years of my career, and I am very proud of them. I still consider my work to be the best work in the world. I have never met another artist whose talent matches the popularity he has achieved. His path is my path and I am very proud that Sting's achievements include some of the work I have done.
In the time I have been away from Sting, I have recorded more than 200 albums with other musicians and I am proud to have worked with them. (see discography). Working with Phil Collins and the Pretenders in the late 1980s opened the door to the Sting band and to other musicians. But more importantly, this work as a session musician allowed me to become a more confident professional. With Phil Collins, I learned to play simply or to play exactly the way I needed to play certain songs. The song "Another Day in Paradise", which has been at number one in the charts for a long time, is an exact confirmation of these words.
During my breaks from Sting, I pursued a solo career with other musicians. I have recorded 7 albums of instrumental music and occasionally go on concert tours. I treat instrumental compositions in the same way as songs. Maybe it's partly because I work more often with singers and songwriters. I'm very happy that people like these albums, otherwise I wouldn't have the incentive to keep doing them.
When I'm not touring with Sting or other musicians and doing my own thing, I'm just a husband and a father of six children. I may not be as good at these roles as I am as a musician, but I am much more proud of my achievements in this field than I am of everything I mentioned above."
Incredible romanticism, performance genius, charisma, amazing warmth and sincerity - these and many other enthusiastic words can be said about this unique musician, guitarist and composer!
