Duo Andersson was founded in 2019 by well-known musicians of the younger generation in Lithuania - violinist Julija Andersson and pianist Paulius Andersson. The duo, which regularly promotes Lithuanian music abroad, aims to present rarely performed works and conceptual programmes to international audiences. "Duo Andersson has studied with renowned chamber music teachers such as Indra Baikštytė, Audronė Vainiūnaitė, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Johannes Meissl and others. In 2023 they won the 3rd Prize at the International Luigi Nono Chamber Music Competition (Turin, Italy), and in 2022 they were awarded a diploma and the Audience Prize at the International Stasys Vainiūnas Chamber Music Competition (Vilnius, Lithuania).
Julija and Paulius regularly perform as soloists with Baltic and European orchestras. Andersson, who comes from a renowned piano dynasty, is a laureate of 16 international piano competitions. Andersson is a member of the ensemble NICO, with whom she has performed at prestigious concert halls such as Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall (New York, USA, 2023), Tonhalle Zurich (Switzerland, 2024), St. Martin-in-the-Fields (London, UK), etc.
On the day of the concert, 29 June, Duo Andersson - a couple not only on stage, but also in life - will celebrate their first wedding anniversary, and Franck's joyful and sensual Sonata will end the evening on an optimistic note. The programme will also include Preludes by M. K. Čiurlionis, works by J. Brahms, C. Debussy and C. Franck.
