The programme features original compositions by the performers, filled with Latin American, flamenco and modern jazz rhythms.
The duo of vibraphone and guitar is an uncommon musical phenomenon not only in Lithuania, but in the world. These instruments together create a unique sound, enriching each other's palette of colours and opening up new sonic layers. Both instruments are solo instruments by nature, but in a duet their unique qualities, especially unexpected timbres, become apparent.
Marius Šinkūnas is the only professional vibraphonist in Lithuania, a laureate of many national and international competitions, who has deepened his knowledge and performed in France, the USA and Japan. He teaches vibraphone masterclasses at the St. Petersburg Art Lyceum and performs with jazz, contemporary and classical musicians. He established the first vibraphone class in the Baltic States at the Balys Dvarionas Music School in Vilnius. He hosts music radio programmes on LRT KLASIKA.
Mindaugas Stumbras is a jazz guitarist who performs and composes both jazz and contemporary music. The winner of the 2016 "Gitarų šėlsmas" competition, M. Stumbras has taken part in many Lithuanian and foreign jazz music festivals and has played with renowned jazz virtuosos such as Kenny Wollesen, Tommy Smith, Luis Bonilla, Kenneth Dahl Knudsen, Alyn Cosker, Mario Caribe, Fergus McCreadie, Dalius Naujokaitis and many more. Stumbras has performed in the Baltic States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Hungary. His music is constantly inspired not only by the works of the world's virtuosos, but also by the stunning scenery of nature and his experiences on tour. The guitarist searches for a new sound in various genres of music and remains faithful to the art of improvisation.
