At the invitation of the festival, Zara McFarlane - one of the most talented and prominent British jazz vocalists of today - will perform in Lithuania for the first time.The performer, twice chosen as the country's best jazz singer by the British radio station "Jazz FM", will hold two concerts with her band in the festival program.The performer, who combines jazz, reggae, soul, and folk in her work, has been well-known on the international jazz scene for more than a decade.The famous British DJ and radio host Gilles Peterson is considered the "godfather" of the Jamaican-born artist's career, who helped discover many talents on the jazz scene.She has been recognized as the best jazz artist at the UK's MOBO and Urban Music Awards. The singer's performances are held all over the world - her concert was named one of the best in the program by the Istanbul Jazz Festival. In 2018, Zara herself became a panelist for the BBC Young Jazz Musicians Awards.Lithuanian jazz star pianist and composer Egidijus Buožis will take the stage before Zara McFarlane's performance at the National Drama Theater in Kaunas. He has assembled a team of prominent musicians from the country for this project and invited the quartet of vocalists "Cappella' A" to join.Egidijus Buožis has been thinking about such a program, which features compositions arranged for this vocal group, for a long time - the audience of this year's "Kaunas Jazz" festival will hear its premiere."Cappella' A" is a vocal collective that has been evaluated in various competitions not only in Lithuania, but also abroad, cooperating with many well-known artists. Egidijus Buožis, who has been known on the jazz scene for decades, delights not only Lithuanian but also foreign music lovers.By the way, Egidijus Buožis' group of musicians, which will include Vytautas Labutis, Darius Rudis and other well-known jazz masters, will be joined at the festival by a guest from abroad - French percussionist Xavier Desandre Navarre.
