Excursion + concert!
You've probably wandered around the Bernardinai Gardens, an oasis of nature located in the centre of Vilnius. But have you ever had the opportunity to delve deeper into the history of this extraordinary park? From a kitchen garden to a magnificent summer theatre, this place has undergone many a surprising transformation.
On this tour, we'll go back to the 16th century, when the Bernardine monks, who transformed a marshy area into a cultivated garden with fertile kitchen gardens, hosted a number of plant displays in their memory. We will learn about the features of the park in the 19th and 20th centuries, how the course of the Vilnelė River has changed, and the beautiful buildings and events that attracted visitors at that time. And, of course, what did the park look like in Soviet times? We will remember where a palm tree grew fifty years ago, and where Stalin's sculpture used to look down on visitors.
🎶 After the excursion, we will have a very pleasant continuation of the evening - Kristupas Festivalis invites you to a free live music concert! Parisian melodies will be played in the garden by a trio of talented artists.
