The Old Theatre of Vilnius: from the past to the present
Running time - 1.5 hours
In Russian
In the new 111th season, the Old Theatre invites adult visitors to evening tours of the theatre. During the tours, participants will learn about the theatre's rich and varied history, the architectural features of the theatre building, take a tour of the service areas and discover the cultural contribution of each company that has been here for 111 years.
Since the time of the Great Pohulianka, the theatre has lived several lives: the stage has been used for productions in different languages, an orchestra, the voices of opera soloists, and the pirouettes of ballet artists. The productions of different genres reflected the spirit of their respective times, presenting the audience of the capital with performances that were significant for the history of Lithuanian theatre art.
The Old Theatre was the stage of "Queen of Spades" with costumes and scenery by Mstislavs Dobužinskis, where the sonorous voice of Elena Čiudakova in "La Traviata" was heard, where the soloist Virgilijus Noreika started his career, and where the director of "The Queen of Spades", Virgil Noreika, was born. The stage was directed by Romanas Viktiukas, Linas Marijus Zaikauskas, Dalia Tamulevičiūtė, Genadijus Gladij, Jonas Vaitkus, Oskaras Koršunovas, and the roles were played by Jelena Maivina, Artioms Inozemcev, Vladimir Jefremov, and others.
The tours are led by theatre historian Anastasija Arkhipova and actress Ekaterina Makarova from the Old Theatre.
