Emilija iš Laisvės alėjos is a Lithuanian historical drama published in 2017. The film is set in Kaunas in 1972 after the burning of Romas Kalanta. The film's protagonist, Emilija, is accidentally involved in the riots when she receives an assignment to the Kaunas Drama Theatre.
Emilija (played by Ieva Andrejevaitė) receives an assignment to the Kaunas theatre, and she arrives on the very day of the demonstrations that followed the burning of R. Kalanta. Accidentally blending into the crowd, she meets the future director of her theatre. Trying to stand up to the policemen, Emilija is beaten up and taken to the KGB office, where, after finding Emilija's book of partisan poems, a KGB officer becomes enraged and starts to persecute her and the theatre where she is starting to work. Once at the theatre, the idealistic Emilia soon begins to notice how divided the company is.
