"Sound is constantly moving, changing, transforming. In a sense, it can be called humble. To become so, sound must be completely surrendered. A flow without a river is a movement of becoming. An experience of togetherness, an attempt to come closer, to share and to observe the conditionality of the separation between us." This is how the first sentences of the exhibition's annotation invite us to immerse ourselves in the experience of sound. The artist duo Eye Gymanstics (Gailė Griciūtė and Viktorija Damerell) have approached Kaunas through the experiences of the city's communities, professional and amateur collectives, and deaf people who play music together, combining their different voices, timbres, and emotions into a single work, a swarm of sounds that dissolves the boundaries between those who are participating in the recording and those who are listening to it. The sign language translation of the libretto allows the installation to be experienced by the hearing impaired. "Through sound, touch, smell and sight, through memories and imagination, we approach each other, and through others, ourselves." The exhibition will be open at Kaunas City Hall (15 Rotušės Avenue, Kaunas) until 15 September.
